Welcome comment & reassurance – not the easiest book in the Bible to study, or to teach and there is a wide divergence of views. My study of this book began when I attended seminary and took a class on Revelation taught by a professor who believed most of the events were yet to happen, but he saw only one future return of Jesus, the second coming in ch19. After graduating, the church I was pastoring wanted to study Revelation (get used to this – there’s always an interest in the end of the story), so I took about 6 months to read through the Bible to better prepare for the study, focusing on passages involving end-times (Eschatology). This resulted in a 26-week class on the book with about 1/3 of the classes involving consideration of OT prophets, the gospels and Paul’s writings. Since then, I’ve offered the class at CBC 3 times. The material I’m providing you for this class follows the same format (i.e., worksheets and handouts), but we’re going to do this study in 14 lessons. (See Class Schedule – each class has worksheets to complete prior to watching the video. See also your final assignment and the expectation for the final Interaction video session.)

Course Description:
Theology is the study of God. It is to embark on quest for answers to the deepest questions of our heart. Is there a God? If so, is it possible for us to know him? What kind of God is he? How does he interact with the world he created? In our thirst for understanding, Christians turn to the pages of Scripture where God reveals himself to humanity. During this series, we will explore what is known as Theology Proper. While all of theology revolves around God, this is the category of Christian doctrine that focuses on God’s existence and character. Our goal is not merely to gain intellectual knowledge, but more importantly draw closer in our relationship with him.
Objectives:
As a result of the course your understanding of God’s nature will be enlarged.
You will learn to conduct a systematic study of Scripture examining topics in light the full counsel of God’s Word.
You will be able to offer a summary of the biblical teaching of Theology Proper.
You will be equipped to defend your belief in the existence of God, and refute false ideas.
You will be able to explain the differences between the God of the Bible from other systems of belief.
You will gain insight into God’s character by exploring his attributes, titles, and works.
You will be able to recognize some of the heresies that have arisen in regards to the person of God, as well as defend the biblical teaching of the Trinity.
You will be drawn into a deeper relationship with the living God, responding in praise to His character and works.

Is designed for the learner to understand that the Bible is God’s message to man and not man’s message to his fellow men, much less man’s message to God. The Bible is about the distinctive Divine Revelation, His disclosure of His Reality is the Genuine Progress in Revelation. The Primary axiom of the reality of God is His self-revelational-disclosure. We will survey the key terms and concepts related to the Biblical Revealed Canon of God.
We will be answering the questions – What is the Bible Canon and How do we know the Canon is of the Eternal Community: YHWH – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit?
Here are some quotes concerning the Word of God.
They have been re-edited to today’s English language . . .
Martin Luther--
In truth you cannot read the Scriptures too much;
And what you read, you cannot read too well;
And what you read well, you cannot too well understand;
And what you understand well, you cannot too well teach;
And what you teach well, you cannot too well live.
Miles Coverdale—
It shall greatly help you to understand Scripture if you mark
not only what is spoken or written, but of whom and to whom,
with what words, at what time, where, to what intent, with
what circumstances, considering what goes before and what
follows after.
“A
Bible that’s falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t.”
― Charles Spurgeon
“The Holy Scriptures are our letters from home.”― Augustine of Hippo
“Out of 100 men, one will read the Bible, the other 99 will read the Christian.”
“The Bible was not given for our information but for our transformation.”― Dwight Lyman Moody
"Christ desires his mysteries to be published abroad as widely as possible. I would that the Gospels and the epistles of Paul were translated into all languages, of all Christian people, and that they might be read and known." ~ William Tyndale
Corrie Ten Boom: “The Bible is meant to be bread for daily use, not cake for special occasions.”
“When you open your Bible, God opens His mouth.” — Mark Batterson
“The primary purpose of reading the Bible is not to know the Bible but to know God.”― James Merritt
When you read God’s Word, you must constantly be saying to yourself, “Is it talking to me, and about me”. — Soren Kierkegaard
“Until the Bible begins to talk to us, we really have not been reading it.” — Aiden Wilson Tozer
"The Scriptures sprang out of God."
~ William Tyndale

Course Description

And, that the textbook of Prayer is the Bible. Your personal intimacy with the Trinity should become more into the Depths of God –

Christians are called to be people of God’s Word. The Lord speaks through the pages of Scripture, causing us to grow in understanding and godliness. Sadly, many believers do not read their Bibles as often as they should, and when they do it is often rushed or superficial. Some choose to rely on others to tell them what the Bible means, doubting their ability to understand it for themselves. No one has ever shown them where to start, or how to make sense of what is before them. It doesn’t help that there are so many Bible teachers who misapply the Scriptures and mishandle the biblical text. We may be guilty of this ourselves at times, reading our own ideas into a passage rather than drawing from it what is there. This shouldn’t be! We are called to be like the Bereans who searched the Scriptures daily receiving the words of the apostle with great eagerness (Acts 17:11). This is why it is necessary to follow careful principles when interpreting Scripture. We call this hermeneutics. The purpose for this course is to help equip students to read and study the Bible for themselves. We will focus on the basic principles that lay the foundation for all good Bible Study, sometimes known as the inductive approach, and we will have the opportunity to put these tools into practice.

We will be answering the question— What is the Pentateuch?

Pneumatology is the study of the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Triune God. In this course we will explore both his person and his works. This is an important study as we consider the special relationship believers in this present dispensation share with the third member of Trinity. Not only is he involved in our everyday lives, but the Apostle Paul tells us in Romans 8:9 “the Spirit of God dwells in you,” if you belong to Christ. It has been said that the Holy Spirit is sometimes the forgotten member of the Trinity in our Christian studies. This is not intentional, but it is possible we devote so much of our focus on the Father and the Son that we leave little room to think about the Spirit. Of course, it is right for us to emphasize the Son; after all he is our Savior. It is also correct for us to celebrate the Father, because he has graciously adopted us as sons and daughters. But we should not forget to emphasize the Holy Spirit as well, because he is the one who fills us with the presence of God, empowering us to overcome sin and live victorious Christian lives. Our goal in this study is to gain a better understanding of the Holy Spirit, to identity common misconceptions that exist in some circles, and to encourage us to walk by the Spirit that we might bear the kind of spiritual fruit that is pleasing to God.

Course Description and Purpose:
The study of Angelology is to explore the existence and work of angels or spirit beings in the world. This will also cover of study Satanology or the doctrine of Satan since Satan is a fallen angel. It is that part that deals specifically with the ruler of the fallen angels or demons (Matt. 25:42; Rev. 12:7-9). The study of the rest of his hideous kingdom, the fallen angels or demons, is sometimes called Demonology. The career of Satan, which extends from the dateless past, before man's creation (Job. 38:7), to eternity future, is inclusive in the Bible and forms a major and an important doctrine of the Word of God.
Some people might question, “Why we should even study about the devil. After all, there is enough trouble in life. Let’s just leave him alone.” But to do so is to ignore a considerable portion of God’s revelation to us in Scripture. Satan is mentioned throughout the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. While our need is to dwell on the riches of Christ rather than on Satan and the demons, we do need to know this doctrine of the Bible that we might be alert to who and what he is. As a major area of God’s revelation, the study of Satan teaches us about his character, purposes, the nature of temptation, and the Christian’s provision against him. The Bible’s teaching about Satan is part of “the faith,” the body of God’s revealed truth.
Objectives
1. The student will understand that there are myriads of angel spirit beings in existence today.
2. The student will understand what these beings do and where they come from.
3. The student will understand the origin and work of Satan as he mobilized evil forces against the plan of God and Christians in the world.
4. The student will understand the work angels for us today.
